We are passionate arborists at JTK Tree Services, we love the process of felling a whole tree accurately when a site allows or lowering one carefully piece by piece to protect any structures underneath when it doesn’t!
This is our bread and butter and why we are in the tree business..
Skills and passion married with specialised trucks and chippers designed to process felled trees as easily as possible make for a smooth, efficient and fuss free tree removal service.
Most of the trees we remove as arborists are done so because they present an unacceptable risk to people or property.
These circumstances may arise after storms, due to lightning strikes, high winds or heavy rainfall. Structural problems or disease can also develop slowly over time.
To keep your property safe, things you can look out for in your trees include:
Roots lifting from the ground
Cracks or rotting in branch unions
An increasing or already pronounced lean
Fungi fruiting from the trunk or roots (these often weaken the tree)
A dying canopy
These are not the only indicators that a tree is dangerous, so If you are ever unsure about a tree don’t hesitate to get in touch, we are always happy to do an inspection to give you peace of mind.
Dangerous Tree Removal
Dead trees can pose not only an eyesore but also a significant hazard, especially in areas with heavy foot traffic or valuable objects nearby. As these trees continue to decay, they can shed limbs unexpectedly.
If you do have a dead tree, give us a call - it might be better for us to dismantle it before it dismantles itself!

Diseased Tree Removal
Trees suffer from the effects of many pests and diseases, they are just another part of the natural ecosystem. They come in of mould, insects, beetles, bacteria, fungi or even animals like possums or birds in some cases.
As qualified arborists we identify pests and diseases and manage the tree with a broader view of the situation. Considering things like; stakeholder budgets and ongoing costs associated with retaining a diseased tree (more often than not it is cheaper to remove a tree than manage it’s health year after year), the suitability of the species to the position its planted in, useful lifespan of the species, risk posed to people and property, ease and cost of replacement etc.
A few diseases that you can easily identify which usually mean a tree should be removed include:
Phellinus sp. (Bracket fungus) Look for a brown, woody shelf like fungal fruiting body on the lower third of the tree. We usually see this fungi in Gum Trees and Wattles, it turns the wood fibres into a pulp like substance as it advances leading to the shedding of large limbs or whole tree failiure.
Seiridium sp. (Cypress Canker) A disease which causes dieback of the cypress trees (including hedges) and spreads to other cypresses through airborne particles if left unattended too. Branches will die rapidly, look for yellowing of the tips or whole sections eventually turning brown then completely dead.
Removal of Woody Weeds
Weed species
Weeds are one of the biggest threats to our natural environments here on the Mornington Peninsula.
Much of our natural vegetation has been invaded by invasive species like Pine, Pittosporum and Karamu impacting native plants by dominating their resources including water, nutrients and sunshine.
Benefits of removing weed species
There is no doubt removing invasive species of trees on your property will have positive effects.
Encouraging indigenous flora to grow, Providing a sanctuary for local wildlife, decreasing the fuel load for bushfires, preventing further spread of invasive species and in some cases just opening up an area to let more light in or create more usable space.
Why choose us to remove weed species?
With our 4x4 chipping machinery and extensive knowledge we are well equipped to engage in large bushland regeneration projects.
Our vehicles can get us where other tree services can’t and leave a smaller impact on the environment.
As arborists, our ability to correctly distinguish between weed trees and indigenous ones, remove them in a controlled manner and dispose of them efficiently sets us apart.
